Late 19th Century Japanese Rosewood Tansu Cabinet.
Crafted in the early 1900s in Japan, this rosewood tansu features two drawers, two cabinets, and four open display sections.
Pieces of this kind are often associated with the Japanese tea ceremony, valued for their balance of form and function. This particular example is especially distinctive, with a finely carved branch supporting the central shelves and a beautiful and unusual decorative detail. The bottom drawers are later replacements, and there are some age-related cracks and areas of wear to the wood but generally in very good condition.
