Bleached Coral III is a hand-carved alabaster sculpture by Mark Bowman, presented on a polished granite base. This was the first of Mark's works I encountered and I was blown away by the skill and composition of the piece, but what stayed with me is the way Mark's work makes you feel; calm, moved and centred. 
 
The Bleached Coral series was created in response to the growing environmental challenges facing coral reefs around the world, exploring the fragility and changing nature of these vital marine ecosystems. As a keen sailor, the ocean has always been an important part of Mark’s life and a continuing source of inspiration for his work. Through this series, he reflects on both his personal connection to the sea and the urgent need to protect its delicate environments.
